Intend of UGC’s 100% Fee Refund!
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked colleges and universities for a 100% refund of fees within a specified period to “enable them to opt for a course of their choice.”
What Made It Happen?
Students and parents have been frequently raising many complaints about the non-refund of fees by higher education institutions (HEI) on cancellation or withdrawal of admissions.
What Does This Fee Refund Policy Says?
As per the policy guidelines, “colleges and universities should fully refund the fees for all cancellations of admissions/migrations of students up to September 30, and with a deduction of not more than ₹1,000 as processing fee up to October 31.”
Who All Our Covered In This Policy?
The policy applies to all “HEIs, established or incorporated by or under a Central Act or a State Act, and every institution recognized by the UGC under Clause (f) of Section 2 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.”
What If The Admission Dates Extend?
For admission extending beyond or after October 31, the provisions contained in the UGC notice of October 2018 on Refund of Fees and Non-Retention of original certificates shall apply.
There Will Be Consequences!
Universities and colleges violating these provisions of the policy shall be liable for punitive action as notified in Clause 5 of the UGC Notification on Refund of Fees and Non-Retention of Original Certificates issued in October 2018.
