Understanding the Humanities Stream and Its Career Scope

The humanities stream of education or arts involves detailed education about the nuances of domains related to liberal arts, social sciences, languages and related subjects. Some of the common subjects in humanities that students in class 11th and 12th learn about include political science, history, psychology, English, geography etc. Some of the other related subjects in humanities include sociology, home science, languages like Hindi, Sanskrit, linguistics, philosophy etc.

Although often regarded by the majority as a stream having a limited scope of career growth and educational options, Arts and Humanities as a stream allows significant flexibility to students, allowing them to explore both mainstream career options and offbeat, up and coming areas of career. Moreover, there are a number of career domains such as management, administrative services, entrepreneurship and so on, which are also open to candidates belonging to a humanities background. But in order to build a successful and thriving career in humanities, choosing the right degree course after completion of one’s school education is crucial.

In this blog, we have curated a few of the most demanded and most useful courses that a student from an Arts background can take up after completing class 12th.

1) Bachelors of Arts (BA)

Bachelors of Arts is a three-year undergraduate program, divided into six different semesters, that can be pursued after the completion of Higher Secondary examinations, i.e. class 12th boards from the Arts and Humanities stream.
