The Indira Gandhi National Open University has started to open admissions to its open and distance learning programs till 31st January 2025. Students now seek to gain undergraduate degrees, postgraduate degrees, or even diplomas, certificates, or PhDs.
The January 2025 session covers a broad range of programs aimed at responding to various academic and professional goals. Submission deadlines for applicants have also been set for 31st January 2025. The university has further opened its students' re-registration process; they have been ongoing from the 2nd December 2024, up to 31st January 2025. First-time applicants should visit the Online Admission System, click on the available program tab on the homepage, and read all the information regarding the eligibility criteria, fees, and course duration to select a desired program.
Eligibility Criteria
IGNOU offers over 200+ courses in various disciplines, such as graduation, post-graduation, diploma, and certificate. The eligibility criteria for each program varies as the requirement of the program so it is advisable to check the criteria on the official website of IGNOU. However, the general eligibility criteria are mentioned below:
- For Undergraduate Program: 10+2 degree from a recognized board or an equivalent degree to 10+2
- For Postgraduate Program: A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university
- To be eligible for Diploma or Certificate courses, students must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board.
- Admission to all courses, save PhD, B.Ed, and PBScN, will be based on a merit list.
Document Required
The IGNOU registration process requires the following documents. As mentioned below, these documents are required in the given size:
- A passport-sized student photo with a 100 KB file size.
- The student's signature in a 100 KB file size
- The size of a scanned copy of an educational certificate is 200 KB.
- A scanned copy is needed of the Caste Certificate (200KB file size) if you are an OBC, SC, or ST member.
- A scanned copy is needed of the Work experience (200KB file size) if you have any working experience.
Fees
The Registration Fee is non-refundable and can be refunded before the admission confirmation. If any cancellation is received after admission confirmation, 15 % of the fee, subject to a ceiling of Rs. 2,000/- shall be deducted. Students, who opt for a soft copy of the SLM shall get only the refund of the Registration fee. If a student has availed fee exemption then only the Development fee shall be refunded. Refunds are not admissible after 60 days of closures of admissions.
Steps to Apply
To register for the IGNOU January 2025–26 session, interested students must follow the given steps:
Step 1: Visit the official website of IGNOU
Step 2: Find and click the January Admissions 2025 link on the homepage.
Step 3: A new webpage with links to online and ODL programs will be displayed to you.
Step 4: Decide on a program, fill out the application, and upload all required documents.
Step 5: Complete the application and pay the Registration fees.
Step 6: Print out the successful application submission on an A-4 sheet of paper for future records.
Instruction
Here are a few instructions students should keep in mind while applying for the IGNOU ODL program:
- Click on New Registration at the applicant login.
- Fill up all required details for registration.
- Select a Username and Password between 8 to 16 characters.
- Submit your registration details.
- Your username and password will be received by email and SMS.
- Already registered users can log in
- Required documents: Scanned Photograph, Signature, Educational Qualification, Experience Certificate, Category Certificate.
- Payment method: Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking.
- Scan the original documents.
- Attach files, preview the form, and save or print for later.
