Admission Process for IIT PhD 2025-26

  • Personal Interview: Candidates selected in the written test will be shortlisted and invited for the personal interview. Candidates who were exempted from the written test will also get an invitation for the interview. They will be required to prepare their detailed research proposal before appearing for the interview. The interview will be conducted by the Departmental Research Committee (DRC). Candidates will be asked to defend their research proposal. 
  • Merit List: A merit list will be prepared by the admission committee of the particular IIT based on the performance of the candidates in the written test, personal interview, and overall academic performance.

Eligibility Requirements for PhD admissions at IIT

IIT PhD Admissions 2025 Overview

Being one of the most prestigious higher education institutions, IIT PhD admissions are one of the most difficult in India. The admission process is highly religious and challenging.
