Entrance exams for LLM

To get enrolled in a law school, you must attempt the entrance exams that are asked by the university or whose results master in the admission process. Below given are a few of the entrance exams that are considered the most in the universities. Let’s check out their eligibility criteria.

CLAT

It stands for the Common Law Admission Test. This is a national-level government entrance test. Through this test, candidates can get admission to 22 National Law Universities (NLU) in India.

Eligibility criteria

  • Students must have completed their bachelor’s degree in law that is LLB (Bachelor of Law) or equivalent degree. 
  • Students must have secured at least 50% of General/OBC/PWD/NRI categories and 45% for SC/ST categories.
  • There is no such upper age limit to apply for this entrance exam.

LSAT

It stands for Law School Admission Test. This exam is conducted for the LLM one-year programs.

Eligibility

  • Students who have completed their LLB course from any recognized university can apply for this LSAT exam.
  • Students who are in their final year of LLB and waiting for their final results can also apply for this exam
  • Students must have scored at least 45% of aggregate marks irrespective of the categories.

AILET

It stands for the All India Law Entrance Test. This exam is conducted by the National Law University, Delhi.

Eligibility 

  • To apply for this exam, students need to have their LLB done from any recognized university.
  • Students need to obtain a minimum of 55% marks and SC/ST candidates and persons with disability must have obtained 50% marks.
  • Candidates who are appearing or awaiting their results of qualifying exams can also apply for this entrance exam

CUET LLM 

CUET stands for Common Univerisity Entrance Test. This exam is conducted by the National Test Agency (NTA) to offer admissions to capable candidates at Central University. 

Eligibility 

  • An LLB degree is to must-have if you wish to apply for CUET.
  • A bachelor’s degree must be obtained from any recognized Indian or foreign university.
  • The minimum mark required for applying CUET is 50% in LLB for the general category and 45% for reserved categories.
