It has been seen that the trend of going to other countries for education is increasing instead of taking admission to Indian Universities. In order to boost the enrollment of youth in higher education, UGC has permitted foreign universities to come to India and provide education in various programs just like they provide on their own campuses.

University Grants Commission has made some policies recently regarding setting up campuses of foreign educational institutions in India as a welcome move. In order to provide top-class education like students get in foreign countries, the New Education Policy In India outlines some changes to permit the international university to provide education.

According to UGC, the foreign universities who got/placed in the list of top 500 institutions overall/subject-wise globally. The guidelines are made by UGC to ensure quality education because such institutions should be reputed in their respective home countries.

Apart from these things, UGC officials said that selected universities should sign an undertaking stating that the quality of education will be best in class in Indian campuses is at par with that provided in their home campuses.

On the matter of the qualification of the candidates, UGC will ask to give an undertaking for equivalent qualifications applicable in their main campuses.

The selected institutions will be provided autonomy to choose qualified faculty equivalent to the main campus.

Universities from various countries are keen to set up their campuses in India like France, Australia, the USA, the UK and Italy. Similarly, Indian Universities are given the thrust to be free to establish their respective foreign campuses in overseas universities in order to boost their international presence. There are many institutions in India like IITs that are exploring this move of UGC.
