The UGC NET Exam is a National Eligibility Test conducted by the National Testing Agency on behalf of the University Grants Commission in India. This body conducts the examination twice a year, once in June and then in December. This is a very prestigious and competitive exam designed for those who aim to work as assistant professors or achieve a Junior Research Fellowship in various institutions in India.

What is the UGC-NET Exam?

The "assistant professor and PhD admission" candidates will be eligible to serve as an assistant professor and, on the same date, to join the PhD classes. They will not be awarded the JRF award. Similarly, candidates qualifying under the "PhD admission only" category can pursue a PhD but they will be ineligibly placed for either award of JRF or Assistant Professor positions.
