Mandatory BCI Updates for AIBE 20 Exam (Nov 30): Critical Changes You Must Review Now

On‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ November 30, 2025, the 20th AIBE exam is planned, the Bar Council of India (BCI) has published multiple sets of guidelines for the candidates who will be physically present at the test centre on the exam day. Candidates must necessarily follow these rules, and in case they are unable to do so, they can be removed from the list of candidates or banned from the test centre. These regulations are available on the official examination website: ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌allindiabarexamination.com.

AIBE 20 Reporting & Entry Rules

Candidates are required to get to the centre not later than 11:30 a.m. The time for closing the entry gates will be 1:15 p.m. sharply and no latecomers will be allowed at all. Each candidate must ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌have:

  • AIBE 20 admit card
  • Original government-issued photo ID
  • Both documents are compulsory for entry.
  • AIBE 20 Allowed vs Prohibited Materials

The exam largely follows a restricted-materials policy, but BCI has permitted candidates to carry Bare Acts (only the plain text of statutes). Bare Acts with notes, comments, explanations, or annotations will not be allowed. 

Not allowed inside the exam hall:

  • Mobile phones and electronic gadgets
  • Calculators
  • Smart/digital watches
  • Bags and handbags
  • Printed/handwritten notes
  • Textbooks or reference books
  • Loose papers

Only blue or black ballpoint pens can be used; pencil usage is treated as a violation and may lead to disqualification.

AIBE 20 Special Arrangements for people with disabilities

Candidates with 40% or above disability will receive 20 minutes of additional time. Those who need a scribe must arrange their own at personal expense, in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (dated 01-09-2025).

Qualifying Requirements for AIBE 20

To pass AIBE 20, the minimum scores required are:

Candidates who clear the exam will be eligible for the Certificate of Practice (COP) required to practise law in India
