UGC Notice

ASSEB Division I has now made it mandatory for students who failed the HSLC Examination 2026 to take re admission in Class 10. So this is an important update for all the students who could not clear the exam this time.

According to an official notification issued on June 23, unsuccessful candidates cannot directly register for the next HSLC exam. They will first have to secure re admission in Class 10 and attend regular classes before becoming eligible to appear again. So students should not skip this step and complete the re admission process on time.

Key Changes Announced by ASSEB

Update

Details

Re-admission

Mandatory for failed HSLC 2026 students

Reappearance in Exam

Allowed only after rejoining Class 10

School Option

Same school or another school under the same examination centre

Registration Number

Existing registration number will remain valid

Elective Subject Change

Allowed before the half-yearly examination

ASSEB has also said that students can take re admission in the same school from where they appeared for the HSLC exam. So if seats are not available there then students can also enroll in another school that comes under the same exam centre.

The board has also clarified that re admitted students will continue using their existing registration number and a new one will not be issued. Along with this, students will also be allowed to change their elective subject after re admission but this request will only be accepted till the half yearly exam, so students should not delay this decision.

This new rule basically gives students a proper structured way to get another opportunity to clear the HSLC exam while also making sure they continue going to regular classes and get the academic support they need.
