Bihar Government Invites Applications for Free Admission of SC, ST Students to Ambedkar Residential Schools; Apply

For a longer period of time, high-quality education for the lower cast was not very accessible, but now the government of Bihar has made it available with admission to Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar residential school for the academic session of 2026 - 2027. The goal of this initiative is to provide good and free high-quality residential education to students with a lower economic background belonging to SC and ST across the state.

• The date from which the application is starting to begins is January 6 to February 5, 2026.
• 91 Ambedkar Residential Schools are taking part in the admission process. 

Key Features of Ambedkar Residential Schools

The Intiative is taken to help students from the marginalized communities and support them with good academics by the government run residential schools. All the students will receive a complete support from the government in terms of finance which includes:

• Free accommodation and meals
• Academic materials and uniforms
• Sports and extracurricular facilities
• A structured and safe residential learning environment

Students at the Ambedkar Residential Schools will get holistic development that also while ensuring top quality education and no financial burden on families. 

Classes Offered and Eligibility

Admissions are open for the below mentioned classes:

• Class 1
• Class 6

Note that only SC and ST students are allowed to take benefit from this initiative and those only are eligible under this scheme. 

Admission Process and Selection Criteria

Class 1 Admissions

• The selection is depended on a system which is called online lottery system.
• As per them this method is inncoroparted because it offer fairness and transparency to younger applicants. 

Class 6 Admissions

• Selection in this is entirely based on the candidates effort as a state level entrance examination will be conducted to take admission.

Admit Card and Result Schedule

For the students applying for Class 6 need to check the below given timeline to stay informed: 

• Admit Card Availability: February 15 to February 20, 2026
• Result Declaration: March 10, 2026
• Admission Process Begins: March 11, 2026

How to Apply: Online and Offline Options

The process of applying is in two modes just so maximum number of participants can apply, using any one of these either online or offline:

Online Application

• Parents can apply through the official government portal (as notified by authorities)

Offline Application

• To submit offline, person need to go to the nearest Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Office in the applicants nearest district. 

Both of these measures are taken to support families with limited digital access or connectivity.
