The third merit list for the CLAT exam is finally out today! So, those candidates who were part of the counselling process can now check the third provisional allotment list by surfing through the main website, that is consortiumofnlus.ac.in.  

Also, according to the official notice, the names of students who have appeared in the CLAT third merit list need to complete the round 3 admission formalities. The last date to do so is 12th of February 2026, till 1:00 PM. Just in case any student fails to do so, their seat will most probably be passed on to another student. 

CLAT Counselling 2026: Admission Options After Third Merit List

As a part of councelling process, students who are shortlisted and have names in the allotment list will have to select available admission options as a part of the councelling process. Student can:

  • Accept the allotted seat and complete their admission formalities
  • Float their candidature to be considered for higher-preferred NLUs in subsequent rounds
  • Exit the CLAT 2026 counselling process

So, in this process, students need to be more attentive. They should choose the option within the given time and avoid allotment cancellation.

Documents Required for CLAT Counselling 2026

Candidates appearing for CLAT Counselling 2026 must keep the following documents ready in scanned format for verification:

  • Class 10 marksheet
  • Class 12 marksheet
  • CLAT 2026 admit card

For postgraduate (LLM) admissions, candidates must also upload:

  • LLB or equivalent degree marksheet

Additional mandatory documents include:

  • Character certificate
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate

For those who belong to the reserved category must submit the necessary documents. Also, during the admission process, authorities can ask for more documentation, so be prepared.  

How to Check CLAT 2026 Third Merit List?

Candidates can follow the steps below to download the CLAT third provisional allotment list:

  1. Go to the main, official CLAT website, that is, consortiumofnlus.ac.in 
  2. Tap on the “CLAT 2026” link visible on the homepage
  3. Now, go to the Notification section
  4. Click on  “3rd Provisional Allotment List”
  5. Now, candidates can see the third merit list on the screen

What to Do in Case of Errors in the CLAT 2026 Merit List?

If candidates find any discrepancy or error in the CLAT 2026 third merit list, they are advised to immediately contact the Consortium of NLUs for clarification and necessary assistance.

Common Mistakes to Avoid During CLAT 2026 Counselling and Seat Allotment

The following are some common mistakes to avoid during the CLAT counselling and seat allotment process:

  • Missing deadlines for seat acceptance, uploading documents, or paying fees. Any of these can lead to the cancellation of your allocated seat due to failure to meet deadlines.
  • Uploading unclear, incorrect, or uncomplete documents during verification.
  • Selecting an admission option (Accept, Float, Exit) without clarifying the consequences that will occur in future rounds of counselling.
  • Not verifying that your name, category, course, and the allocated NLU are correct prior to final submission.
  • Disregarding announcements issued through the official website of the Consortium of NLUs.
  • Completing counselling formalities just prior to the deadline, increasing the likelihood of experiencing technical difficulties.
  • Not having both the original and scanned copies of required documents available in case they are needed for verification.
