CLAT 2026 First Allotment List LIVE: Download Seat Allotment PDF, Freeze & Float Steps

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) is going to release the CLAT first allotment list of 2026, which is, January 7th at 10 AM. This is the official beginning of the CLAT 2026 counselling process. 

Once the allotment process is done, students can then see if they have secured a seat at National Law University (NLU) or not. It will be solely based on the CLAT rank, category, and preference.

The CLAT 2026 first list is finally out. Go and download the link from the ‍‍‍‍‍official CLAT portal. Candidates need to login through the portal with their credentials that they must have created while signing up. 

• View their seat allotment status
• Download the allotment letter
• Access the Freeze, Float, and Exit options on the counselling dashboard

CLAT First Allotment List 2026: How to Use Freeze & Float Options

Candidates who are allotted a seat in any NLU must choose one of the available counselling options within the given timeline: Freeze, Float, or Exit. The details of each option are explained below.

Freeze Option

Choose the Freeze option if you are satisfied with the allotted NLU and do not wish to participate in further counselling rounds.

• Payment of the non-refundable Confirmation Fee is mandatory within the prescribed deadline
• Once frozen, the seat is final, and you will not be considered for subsequent allotment rounds
• If the seat is frozen in the First, Second, or Third round, the remaining university fee must be paid by April 24, 2026
• If frozen in the Fourth or Fifth round, the remaining fee must be paid by May 30, 2026

Float Option

Select the Float option if you want to retain your current seat but are willing to be considered for a higher-preference NLU in the next rounds.

• Payment of the Confirmation Fee is compulsory to activate the Float option
• If upgraded in a later round, you will be automatically shifted to the higher-preference NLU
• Reverting to the previously allotted NLU is not allowed after an upgrade
• The Float option is available only up to the Fourth counselling round
• In the Fifth and final round, candidates must choose either Freeze or Exit

Note: If you are allotted your top-preference NLU, you can only choose Freeze or Exit. Floating to a lower-preference university is not permitted.

CLAT First Allotment List 2026: Confirmation Fee Details

Students who are going to choose either Freeze or Float will pay the confirmation fee in the given deadline. Payment of this fee is mandatory to secure the allotted seat.

Key points to note:

• The Confirmation Fee is non-refundable in most cases
   
• Payment must be completed online through the counselling portal
   
• Failure to pay the fee within the deadline will result in cancellation of the allotted seat
   
• Only after successful fee payment will the Freeze or Float option be considered valid

Candidates should ensure successful payment and keep a copy of the fee receipt for future reference.
