Gautam Buddh Nagar Schools Closed for Classes, Nursery to 8 on January 16–17 Due to Fog and Cold Wave

Classes from Nursery to 8th don’t have to go to school anymore, but for two days, which are the 16th and 17th of January 2026. The district administration has issued an order regarding this due to extreme cold weather conditions and dense fog.

Schools across Gautam Buddh Nagar district will remain closed for students from Nursery to Class 8 on Friday and Saturday, January 16 and 17, following orders issued by the district administration due to dense fog and extreme cold weather conditions.

As per the official orders, all the schools that are affiliated by the CBSE, ICSE, UP, and IB boards must follow the closure instructions in Gautam Buddh Nagar.  

“All schools from Nursery to Class 8 affiliated with CBSE, ICSE, IB, UP Board, and other boards in Gautam Buddh Nagar district shall remain closed on January 16 and 17,” the order stated.

It is also to mention that strict actions will be taken against any school in case of any violation of this order or reopening of schools during this period.

Earlier, the district education department had extended the winter vacation for schools until January 15 in view of the ongoing cold wave. However, continued dense fog and extreme cold have led the administration to further suspend physical classes for younger students.
