IGNOU July 2025 Admissions: Extended Till 30 Sept 2025

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has again extended the deadline for fresh admissions to the academic session for July 2025. This is a great opportunity for students who want to apply for the programs. The last date for submission of applications for all the eligible programs in ODL and Online mode is September 30, 2025.

This extension is announced by the university to facilitate more admissions for the applicants and to reduce technical issues at the last minute for students. This is not meant for semester and certificate programs, which will have separate deadlines. Students are encouraged to complete their registrations, preferably well before the last date, so that they do not run into issues in the last minute. The admission process will be done online through the IGNOU admission portal.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility criteria for different programmes offered by IGNOU vary according to the level of study and discipline. Here’s a list of the basic criteria mentioned below: 

• Undergraduate (UG) programmes: Students must have passed a Class 10+2 examination from a recognized board.
• Postgraduate (PG) programmes: The basic eligibility criterion is a bachelor’s degree (in the relevant or related discipline) from a recognized university. 
• B.Ed. and PhD programmes: The eligibility criteria include performance on the entrance examination with regard to specific academic and professional qualifications. 
• Diploma and Certificate programmes: The criteria range from Class 10 education to bachelor’s degrees, depending on the programme.  

Fee and Refund Policy

To complete the admission process, students have to pay a non-refundable registration fee will need to be paid along with the first-year fee of the program. As per IGNOU's refund policy:

• Before the Admission Deadline: A full refund of the program fee will be issued, minus the non-refundable registration fee.
• Within 15 days of the  Last Date: A refund of INR 500 will be deducted from the admission fee.
• From 16 to 90 days after the Last Date: A refund of INR 1,000 will be deducted from the admission fee.
• After 90 days: No refunds will be issued.

Note: Any duplicate payments will be refunded automatically to the originating account.

Documents Required

Applicants must prepare scanned versions of the following documents for online submission: 

• A recent passport-sized photograph (which should be less than 100 KB)
• A scanned signature (which should be less than 100 KB)
• Proof of Age (e.g., birth certificate / Class 10 marksheet)
• Certificates of Educational Qualification (Class 10 onwards marksheets and certificates)
• A certificate of Category (if applying under SC/ST/OBC/EWS)
• An experience certificate (if required for the program)
• Proof of BPL (Below Poverty Line)  if applicable.

This is the final chance for students wanting to apply since the IGNOU has already decided to extend the application closing date until September 30, 2025, instead of the standard July 2025. Students should reconfirm that they meet whatever eligibility criteria, if any, for their chosen programs and have all necessary documentation, i.e., scanned copies of academic certificates and a passport-size photo, available for upload. 

Also important to note, the fee paid at the time of registration will not be refunded under any circumstances, but the university will refund charges if you cancel as per the University guidelines.
