The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur is going to start first-of-its kind Online Bilingual Undergraduate programme in BBA across all the IIMs of India.

Some of the IIMs are currently offering the undergraduate programmes or integrated programmes involving both the undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in management, IIM Udaipur is going to start up the entry in the IIM brands of India to the undeserved learners.

For decades, the management education department in India has been in the access of a small, urban-elite, and English-speaking group of India.

Prof. Ashok Banerjee, who is the director of IIM Udaipur, was quoted as saying that the reasons for which a small group of students are interested in MBAs are the high cut-offs, implicit expectation of cultural fluency, and residential requirements.

IIM Udaipur is going to start this four-year BBA programme in July 2026 and is designed for the learners who are historically excluded like the students from Hindi-Medium Schools, Rural and small town children, NEET (not in education, employment or training) learners, homemakers seeking to resume their studies, first generation college students and all the students from the non-commerce academic backgrounds. 

This program has a unique aspect of inclusive approach in the language of instruction evened with the National Education Policy mission, which aims in promoting both the Indian and Foreign languages in education. This program offers Hindi as the primary language in the medium of instruction in the first three years of education. While, students also have the choice of selecting English right from the first year of Education.

The institution is putting in the Artificial Intelligence (AI), using the AI-based voice cloning and lip-syncing to let the students access the same content in both languages, making the English proficiency excellent and enhancing the comprehension without putting extra burden on the faculties.

This programme is framed in such a way that it gives multiple exit points, like a certificate after 1st year, a diploma after 2nd year, a BBA (Honours) after 3rd and 4th year. This flexibility is provided to the learners on the basis of giving a freedom to the women and students of economically weaker sections, who cannot stick to the residential courses.

Course is designed in mobile-first, with low bandwidth supporting and mostly asynchronous. The course content would be streamed on the public platforms like the YouTube for giving easy access to the students and the assessment would be taken at the regional centres.

The tuition fee of the programme would be starting with ₹50000 per year and be rising to 2,00,000 by the end of fourth year. But, the merit-based and need-based scholarships are offered simultaneously. A student from the low-income household, who does well would be able to pay ₹87,500 for the whole three-year BBA program and ₹1.37 Lakh for the four-year honours degree.
