IIT Guwahati Opens Admission in B.Sc Data Science and AI Online Course with Multiple Exit Options

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati opens the four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) (Honours) in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence stream. The admissions have started for the academic year 2025-26. The application window opened on 14 April 2025 and will close on 30th May 2025. The classes will commence from 1 September 2025. Students interested in the program can apply online on the official website at iitg.ac.in.

The course is offered by the Mehta Family school of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The course is fully online and aims to prepare students for Industry-ready skills in Data Science and AI via flexible learning at an affordable course price.

Who Can Apply?

Students who have completed their class 12 with at least 60% marks and had Mathematics as one of the subjects (compulsory) can apply.

How To Get Admission?

• Students who are eligible for admission would be enrolled in an online basic Mathematics course. Applicants would be ranked based on composite scores, based on their class 10,12,  and course performance. And, the admission will be given based on the final rank.
• Or, even the candidates who have registered for the JEE (Advanced) in any year or are eligible to appear this year can apply directly to the course.

Structure of Program

It is a four-year, trimester-based program. It covers the foundational and advanced topics of AI and Data Science. The program is based on theoretical learning and hands-on training of the course content via real-world case studies and interactive video lectures. Live sessions of the classes would be provided by the IIT Guwahati faculty and industry experts. 

Students will get internships, term projects, and a capstone project in the final year. Industry tools such as VS Code via Coursera Labs, Jupyter Notebook, and RStudio. Students can take the benefit of Advanced Computing using the PARAM Ishan and PARAM Kamrupa supercomputers in the capstone project. Students can opt for a campus immersion in four-week, optional on-campus immersion program. Any of the slots can be selected for the in-person training on the campus immersion with increased networking opportunities.
