IIT Madras Pravartak Launches Free AI Course for Rural School Teachers; Registrations Open Till Jan 31

Free Artificial Intelligence training courses that are specially designed for rural school teachers are introduced by the IIT Madras Pravartak. The official name of this course is “AI for K12 Teachers” which is going to start on 5th January 2026. Moreover, it mainly aims to help educators in being more efficient while using AI tools in classroom teaching and learning.

Teachers who are interested can apply for this course till the 31st of this month, that is, January. Candidates can do this programme at their own pace and it will of 40 hours, delivered in English only. So, the first 500 teachers who complete the course are going to get the certificate for free.

What Does the AI for K12 Teachers Course Cover?

The course includes eight modules focusing on  practical classroom applications of AI, such as:

• Generative AI tools
• Prompt engineering, gamification, and storytelling
• AI-based lesson planning
• Student engagement tools including AR/VR and visualization
• AI-enabled assessment methods
• Subject-specific AI use cases
• Inclusive education strategies
• Online teaching platforms

Students can register for these AI courses by following the steps:

1. First, go to the official application link for the AI for K12 Teachers programme
2. Enter all the details along with the school location, state, and district
3. Tap on submit

Certification Details

IITM Pravartak will conduct a post-course assessment through an MCQ-based virtual proctored exam. Rural school teachers who clear the assessment will be awarded a course completion certificate.
