Indian Institute of Science Ranked No. 1 in NIRF 2025 University Category

The Ministry of Education has published the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 rankings, and again, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has topped the Universities category. NIRF rankings are released annually to assess and rank higher education institutions in India based on various factors such as Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RPC), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), and Perception. These standards enable the students and their parents to choose a better university.

The institution has an impressive overall performance in all the key parameters. It got 86.47 in Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR), which indicates the quality of education and facilities it provides. In the Research and Professional Practice (RPC) parameter, it scored at an outstanding 88.16, indicating its high research culture. With a Graduation Outcomes (GO) of 83.69, IISc is showcasing that its students are performing very well in placements and higher education. In the case of Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), it scored 60.29, indicating that it still has an opportunity to improve diversity and accessibility. Finally, IISc scored an almost perfect 98.89 in Perception, which indicates that experts and the general population prefer it highly.

All-in-all, the Indian Institute of Science is not merely a facility where experienced teachers and excellent research facilities can be found; it is an institution that people do trust and hold in high regard. It makes the students perform well in their professional lives and continue to work on new ideas. Although it could work a bit more on including students from all backgrounds, it’s still the best university in India this year.
