JEE Advanced 2026 exam dates released by IIT Roorkee

IIT Roorkee, the organizing institute of the JEE Advanced 2026, has announced the date for the long, awaited examination, JEE Advanced. In a very recent announcement, it was stated that the exam will be held on 17th May 2026, and it will be a fully computer, based test in the cities selected within India.

The test will retain its classic format like previous years in two papers. From 9 AM to noon, Paper one will be given out and from 2:30 until 5:30 PM, Paper two. 

It is compulsory to appear for both the papers. In case a candidate fails to take one of the papers, he/she will not be assigned a rank by JEE (Joint Entrance Examination). All the additional details related to the examination will soon be released on the official website: jeeadv.ac.in. Both question papers will be available in English and Hindi.

Eligibility parameters for JEE Advanced 2026

“Top 2.5 lakh qualifiers of JEE Main 2026” are allowed to register for JEE Advanced. The JEE Main dates for next year have been announced by the National Testing Agency for both attempts as follows:

• Dates for JEE Main Session 1: January 21 - January 30, 2026
• Dates for JEE Main Session 2: April 1 - April 10, 2026

Only the scores of both the sessions will count towards qualifying for JEE Advanced.

Format and language of the test

The JEE Advanced 2026 examination will be conducted as a computer, based test (CBT). The test will require the candidates to show analytical reasoning, conceptual clarity, and advanced problem, solving skills. The candidates can use either of the two languages, English and Hindi, as their medium of instruction. This cycle will also follow the bilingual format.

IIT Roorkee is going to release the official information bulletin shortly. This document will lay down the syllabus, detailed marking scheme, step, by, step registration process, fees, important dates, and instructions for the exam.

Candidates must keep on visiting the jeeadv.ac.in website for the latest updates since the registration is usually open a few days after the announcement of the Session 2 result of JEE Main.
