The Ministry of Education (MoE) and Government of India (GOI) have given the responsibility of carrying out the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2025 and Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) 2025 to the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela. In the CSAB initiative, the NIT Rourkela will oversee the admission process of the Indian nationals in the undergraduate programs of 31 NITs, 1 IIEST, 26 IIITs, 36 Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) under the NIT+ system, and 3 Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs).
Apart from the CSAB, DASA will facilitate the undergraduate admissions of foreign nationals in the NIT+ System across the country.
NIT Rourkela has announced that CSAB-NEUT rounds of the North-eastern and selected Union Territories would start in June 2025 under the reservation scheme of AICTE.
Alike the previous years, CSAB will carry out the CSAB-Special Rounds to fill the empty seats left after the completion of all JoSAA 2025 rounds.
For 2025, the CSAB will consist of three rounds. A specific CSAB round will be carried out to allocate the seats of selected NITs to students from the Union Territories like Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep.
Director of NIT Rourkela and chairman of CSAB & DASA 2025, Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, has said that CSAB 2025 is designed to offer a flawless, transparent, and broad way of the seat allocation process across the country, for the candidates who have qualified JEE Main.
The NIT Rourkela Director has mentioned that DASA is their initiative in continued commitment of welcoming international candidates in the India’s leading technical universities and institutes. The DASA seat allocation would be based on the JEE (Main) ranks and scores. Seat allocation would be done in three rounds, more information on this can be found on http://www.dasanit.org.
There would be strong digital systems, dedicated accessibility initiatives, and, multilingual assistance. The Director of NIT Rourkela also said that they are focused on ensuring a smooth and student-centric admission experience for all the candidates.
It is estimated that 14.5 lakh JEE (Main) qualified students are assumed to be competing for over 40,000 seats in the participating institutes across India. In this 20% of the seats are reserved for female candidates. The entire seat allocation procedure including the registration, filling of choice, allotment of seats, and verification of documents would be carried out completely online.
Also, a multilingual helpdesk is set up to provide support to the candidates from different demographic regions like West Bengal, Assam, Hindi, English, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, there are 53 Help Centres, and at least one Help Centre in each state or Union Territory. A dedicated help desk has been established at NIT Rourkela, which would specifically support the divyang (PwD) candidates. They will provide help documents in the immersive reader format, and it will be soon available for the PwD candidates to improve their accessibility.
