Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education to Issue Single Document for HSC, SSC Marksheet and Certificate

The Maharashtra Board has decided to merge the marksheet and passing certificate into one single document for both HSC and SSC students. No more juggling two papers and wondering where the other one disappeared.

This new combined document will also include the student’s photograph and a QR code. That QR code? It’s basically the board saying, “Go ahead, verify this instantly.” No waiting, no guessing.

What’s changing?

Until now, things were… slightly annoying. Students would get their marksheet first, and then wait months for the certificate. Two documents, two timelines, double the chances of losing something important.

Now, both will come together in one file. Simple. Cleaner. 

New marksheet format

The updated marksheet-cum-certificate will include:

• Student’s photograph
• QR code for verification
• Name format similar to Aadhaar

Earlier, the naming format followed a more traditional pattern, surname first, then name, then father’s name. That’s getting aligned with Aadhaar now, which honestly avoids a lot of confusion later.

Why this actually helps

This isn’t just a cosmetic update.

With the photo printed directly on the document, identification becomes straightforward. No awkward “Is this really you?” moments during admissions or document checks.

And the QR code? That’s the real upgrade. Anyone can scan it using the board’s official app and instantly verify the marks. No need to rely on photocopies or “trust me, it’s real” conversations.

In short, fewer fake documents, faster verification, and less paperwork drama.

Not revolutionary. But definitely one of those changes that quietly makes life easier.
