UGC Notice

The National Testing Agency had conducted the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) for the 22.7 lakh medical aspirant candidates. This year, according to the NEET UG aspirants and experts in the field are found discussing the NEET UG 2025 exam was very difficult compared to the previous year's papers. For many candidates, the overall exam paper was very time-consuming and conceptually hard. They said that the paper followed the pre-COVID-19 question pattern.

The increased complexity, especially in Physics and Chemistry, has made the scoring of marks a bit difficult. Dr. Brajesh Maheshwari, Director of the Allen Career Institute, was quoted saying that the difficulty level of this year paper will likely affect the number of top scorers.

CEO of Motion Education, Nitin Vijay analysed the NEET 2025 as a differentiator paper from the past. Usually NTA releases 24 paper sets, but this year it only released only four sets, and all of these four sets had a uniquely more difficult format. This raised the bar higher on the application-oriented and analytical learning.

Physics

Nabin Karki, the National Academic Director (Medical), of the Aakash Educational Services Limited pointed that the Physics Section was very much challenging with full emphasis on the class 11 and the questions required extensive calculations. Karki also said that there were no statement-based, match-the-column, and, assertion-reason questions. The Physics section was the toughest of all the three sections. These questions required a strong conceptual understanding and analytical thinking. Most of them were formula-based and involved multiple steps, and much time-consuming. A single question needed to apply the concepts from the multiple chapters to get the correct answer.

Topics Covered

Majority of the questions were from the Mechanics. This year one question came from the experimental skills, with 15 questions from Mechanics, four from Thermal Physics, three from SHM Waves, 13 from Electrodynamics, six from Modern Physics and Electronics, and four from Optics.

Chemistry

The Chemistry section was very much lengthy and demanded precision and careful reading in the numericals as a bit of misinterpretations could certainly lead to errors. The experts have claimed that theoretical sections were relatively easier than the application-based questions, which raised the difficulty level.

Karki was quoted saying that the Chemistry section was of the difficulty level medium to difficult, with a concentration on the Physical and Organic sections and majority of the questions from the class 12 syllabus. This made many candidates to apply their conceptual clarity and analytical understanding.

The Chemistry section had a considerable number of statement-based, matrix-match questions. Many of the questions required a candidate to apply the multiple concepts simultaneously from the different chapters, and this made it more time-taking in the current year.

Topics Covered

In the current year 16 questions were from Physical Chemistry, 12 from Inorganic Chemistry and 17 from Organic Chemistry. There were 22 questions from class 11 and 23 from class 12. 9 questions were from Physical chemistry, 5 from Inorganic Chemistry and eight from Organic. Whereas, in the class 12th syllabus, 7 questions from Inorganic Chemistry, nine from organic chemistry.

Biology

Biology (Botany and Zoology) was not at all hard conceptually, but was lengthy. It required detailed reading. The Biology section was aligned with the NCERT syllabus and the questions were conceptual, meant to assess the understanding rather than recall, and quietly worded.

Karki focused on the fact that majority of the questions followed the predictable pattern. Some questions were also derived from the introductory passages, brief profiles of scientists and the exercise sections.

The most common format in the exam included multi-statement and match-the-column questions, followed by the assertion-and reason type questions. Diagrams from the NCERT textbooks were incorporated into a few questions, with the focus on Biotechnology and Genetics.
