NEET UG 2025: List of All Government & Private Medical Colleges in Telangana Providing MBBS, Study the Domicile Rules here

After the announcement of the NEET UG 2025 Results, various medical colleges across the country have published their notifications regarding the availability of seats for the NEET UG 2025. The Directorate of Medical Education, Telangana, has opened the counselling and admissions in the various state medical colleges of Telangana. Some of the famous government medical colleges of Telangana are:

• Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad
• Government Medical College, Suryapet
• Government Medical College, Nizamabad
• Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal
• AIIMS, Bibinagar
• Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Adilabad
• Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad

While the various famous private colleges of Telangana are:

• Chalmeda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, Karimnagar
• Malla Reddy Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad
• Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences, Narketpally
• Mamata Medical College, Khammam
• Bhaskar Medical College, Yenkapally
• MNR Medical College & Hospital, Mohd. Shapur

According to the records of 2021, there are a total of 35 medical colleges and hospitals in Telangana (12 government-managed and 23 private). The total intake capacity of 5240 MBBS Students and 2237 PG Seats. This data was presented in the Lok Sabha Session by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on 3rd December 2021. The government has also provided the state with an AIIMS in Bibinagar.

These medical colleges have secured a good rank in the National Institutional Ranking Framework 2024. In the rankings of 2024, only the government college, Osmania Medical College, was ranked and secured the 48th rank.

For applying to the state colleges, one must know the domicile rules of the above-mentioned government colleges. Here are the rules for applying to these Medical Colleges:

• Residency Criteria for 15% Unreserved Seats

1. Must have resided in the state for 10 years (excluding the study duration outside the state).
2. Parent(s) of the students resided in the state for 10 years (excluding their employment period outside). 
3. Parents or spouse must be employed in the state or central government, the public sector, or the educational institutions.

• Management Quota Seats

1. It is open to all candidates with the relevant subjects and the qualifying marks.
2. Non-Telangana state students must have a “Certificate of Equivalence” from the Intermediate Education Board; it should be attached to the application.
3. For the International Candidates, a “Certificate of Equivalence” from the Association of Indian Universities and the Board of Intermediate Education is needed.

• Local Candidate Seats

1. The applicant must have studied in the school/college of the local area for 4 consecutive years before giving the qualifying examination.
2. He or she must be a resident of that local area for a consecutive 4 years before giving the qualifying examination.
3. If you are not a local candidate, then you can still be considered local if you studied in the state for a consecutive 7 years preceding the qualifying examination.
