Tamil Nadu Guest Lecturer Recruitment 2026: Applications Open for 426 Posts

Across the state of Tamil Nadu, the government has released vacancies for 426 temporary guest lecturers and is now inviting individuals to fill the vacancies in the government arts and science colleges across the state. The higher education minister has already announced that the recruitment drive is now live under the direction of the chief minister M.K Stalin. 

The appointments are being made to ensure uninterrupted academic activities while regular faculty recruitment is pending.

Vacancy Details

• Total posts in current phase: 426
• Subjects covered: 29 disciplines
• 306 posts for Tamil and English language courses
• 120 previously vacant notified posts

Background of Recruitment

• The state has established 37 new Government Arts and Science Colleges to expand access to higher education.
• Over 15,000 additional student seats and new courses were introduced for the 2025-26 academic session.
• Earlier phases already saw 1,277 guest lecturers appointed on a temporary basis.

Purpose of Appointment

Since permanent faculty recruitment requires a longer selection process, guest lecturers are being hired temporarily to prevent disruption of teaching and academic schedules in colleges.
