The big update for all the aspirants eagerly waiting, now all have a chance to take part in the application process of the Civil Services Examination ( CSE ) 2026. The date which is decided on which the registration will end is 24th February, 2026. This is a massive opportunity for the candidates as this exam will fill 933 vacancies across the nation in premier government services, but the official data shows that the system currently works with a large manpower gap, making this cycle particularly significant.

Major Officer Shortage Across Services

If we look at the data, as of 1 January 2025, the sanctioned strength of IAS, IPS, and IFS officers is a total of 15,269, but only 12,335 officers are in position. Leaving a deficit of 2,834 posts.
