CMS ED stands for  Community Medical Service and Essential Drug, it is an 18 month diploma program that lasts about 1.5 years and is specially designed to help students acquire basic knowledge of healthcare services and assist people in rural areas.

after completing a CMS ED program an individual can open their primary health care center and provide WHO-approved medicines for basic treatment and medical procedures.
