What is the difference between regular & online & Distance mode ?

As per the latest notification of the University Grants Commission(UGC), all the courses whether pursued in regular, Online, or distance are equivalent. The is no difference in the weightage of these courses. However, they differ based on their learning methodology, examination pattern, and flexibility. A detailed overview of the differences between these courses is listed below-

• Regular Mode- It is the traditional mode of education that has prevailed for a very long time. Students enrolled in regular mode must visit the university campus regularly. The admission process for a regular mode of education can be rigid as it may involve entrance examinations and personal interviews. The examinations are also held at the university campus. Students who do not have any obligations or flexibility issues can choose this program. 

• Distance Mode- The mode of education was popular for students who were unable to attend university campus regularly. The study material was sent to the students by the university and they had to continue their learning on their own. However, the examinations were held at the university campus. Although this mode is flexible, the learning outcome may not have quality.

• Online Mode- This is one of the most popular modes of education presently. Students get a highly interactive learning environment with flexible learning opportunities. The online courses are offered by top-tier universities with their advanced LMS. Highly experienced faculty members conduct live and recorded classes on the LMS and students can attend at their convenience. Examinations are also held remotely with the help of E-Proctored software. 

There are three main ways to study and get a degree: regular, online, and distance mode.

Distance mode is a bit like online, but it usually doesn’t have live classes. You get books or materials by post or online, and you study on your own. Exams may be held offline at certain centers. It’s also flexible but more self-driven.
