The eligibility criteria for an online MTech program typically require candidates to hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology (B.Tech/B.E.) from a recognized university. Some programs may also require a minimum percentage or GPA, relevant work experience, or qualifying exams like GATE.

First of all, an online MTech is not valid in India, and if anyone is pitching you that, I must warn you about the online education scam you are about to fall in.
However, if you are looking for flexible options in MTech, you can opt for a hybrid MTech or an MTech for working professionals program. For this, you need to have a BE/B.Tech program from a recognized institute. Applicants who have completed B.Sc + M.Sc or BCA + MCA from a recognized institute are also eligible for the related field, like computer science.

Currently, online M.Tech programs are not valid as per the guidelines issued by reputed authorities like UGC (University Grants Commission) and AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Such bodies do not recognize M.Tech degrees offered in 100 percent online mode.
However, for the working professional who wants to upgrade their technical skills, some reputed universities have alternative formats like M.Tech with Flexible Timing Programs or Work-Integrated Learning Programs (WILP) specifically designed for working individuals that are flexible in their learning approach while receiving recognition.
To generally qualify for admission into these M.Tech programs for working professionals, you need to fulfill the following criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology (like B.Tech or BE) from any university that is a reputed university.
- Experience in the relevant field for a minimum number of years (depending on the university).
These programs would be better suited for those professionals who wish to continue with their job while acquiring further qualifications.
If at any point, you find yourself wondering which university or which course to go for, College Vidya is one genuine and trustworthy platform that lets you compare different universities, check eligibility, and get expert guidance. Definitely, it simplifies the whole process for the students and professionals in their selection of the right course and university—not only for M.Tech but for several other programs as well.
