What is the B.Tech Lateral Entry Program?

The eligibility criteria for the B.Tech lateral entry program vary from institution to institution. Generally, candidates must have completed a diploma in engineering or technology with at least 50% to 60% marks or a B.Sc. degree with mathematics as one of the subjects with at least 50% marks.

Who is eligible to take admission to B.Tech after diploma?

It takes around 3 to 3.5 years to complete the B.Tech after the diploma program. As the students directly enter into the second year of the course, they get a grace period of 1 year in their course duration.

How long it takes to complete the B.Tech after diploma program?

No, this is not a necessary condition for pursuing a B.Tech program. The candidate could have done a diploma in a different engineering stream and may pursue a B.Tech in a different engineering discipline.

Do we have to complete our diploma in the same engineering field in which we wish to pursue the B.Tech degree?

Yes, some colleges and universities require an entrance exam to gain admission to the B.Tech lateral entry program. And some take admission on a merit basis.

To take admission to the B.Tech lateral entry programs, do we have to give an entrance exam?

Yes, through the BTech Work Integrated Learning Program (WILP), one can pursue a full-time B. Tech degree while working simultaneously.

Can I pursue a B.Tech degree while working?

No, as per AICTE and the Indian Supreme Court norms, the B.Tech. and M.Tech programs are not valid via online/distance mode. So they cannot be offered in the same mode.
