IIM Bangalore to Open First International Campus in Indonesia, PM Modi Announces

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that IIM Bangalore is going to open its first international campus in Indonesia and this is a really big step for India's higher education expansion abroad.

The announcement was made during PM Modi's visit to Indonesia where he held talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The new campus will be set up at the Singhasari Special Economic Zone in Malang, Indonesia and is expected to benefit students across the ASEAN region. This is a great opportunity for students in the region who want to study at one of India's top management institutes.

What Courses Will Be Offered?

The campus will be launched in two phases:

• Phase 1: Executive education programmes for professionals, business leaders, and government officials.
• Phase 2: Full-fledged management degree programmes, subject to regulatory approvals and successful implementation of Phase 1.

The institute also plans to offer programmes in emerging fields such as:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI)
• Digital Transformation
• Global Supply Chains
• Climate & Sustainability
• Healthcare Management

The new campus aims to strengthen educational collaboration between India and Indonesia while providing world-class management education to students across Southeast Asia.

Students enrolled at the Indonesia campus may also get opportunities for short academic immersion programmes at the IIM Bangalore campus in India.

The Indonesia campus is also part of India's bigger plan to expand the global presence of its top educational institutions. In recent years the government has also supported international campuses of:

• IIM Ahmedabad – Dubai
• IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi
• IIT Madras – Zanzibar
