The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 has been officially released for the total 17 categories, including State Public Universities. Jadavpur University, Kolkata, has topped this category in 2025 by surpassing Anna University, Chennai.

This category was introduced last year. In 2024, Anna University got the top rank while Jadavpur University was ranked second. In 2025, Anna University missed the top rank with a very small margin. Jadavpur University scored 76.08, while Anna University got 76.06. Panjab University, Chandigarh, which was in the 5th position in 2024, secured the 3rd rank. Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, and Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram, got the 4th and 5th rank this year.
