IGNOU Online M.Des Program

M.Des is a Master’s program in Design that allows students to learn about the design field and the tools that help design. This program is pursued by students who are interested and willing to be a part of a creative world. M. Des is a 2-year program, however, some universities offer M. Des in online mode as well that program lasts for only a year. That program has multiple benefits like flexibility, online exams, multiple learning resources, and more. 

What’s new at IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University)?

IGNOU is one of the most famous universities that offers Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs and Online Learning (OL) to students. However, this University doesn’t offer an M. Des program in any mode but offers a Diploma in Fashion Design and Retail (DFDR). This is a 1-year diploma program that will be provided to you in open distance learning mode.

IGNOU was established in Year 1985 and since then they are known for their quality education. Students trust this university in terms of quality of education. IGNOU was accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) as an “A++ grade university”. This university is also recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Additionally, this university was on top of the NIRF Open University Category 2024 List.

• Eligibility criteria for the M.Des program:
  • Candidate must have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 50% marks in bachelor’s (can be different according to the university).
  • Candidates have to score qualifying marks in the respective entrance examinations.
• Eligibility criteria for Diploma in Fashion Design and Retail:
  • Candidate must have a completed 10+2 from a recognized board.
  • Minimum passing marks in 10+2.

Note: The above-said fee of INR 10,000 is not for the M.Des offered at IGNOU, as this university doesn’t offer an M.Des program. However, they offer a Diploma in Fashion and Retail (DFDR).

IGNOU Online offers the option of Credit Card/Debit card/Net Banking in its fee payment options but does not provide you a “No Cost EMI” option as of now for any of the online courses.

The examination pattern followed at IGNOU online for different types of courses is semester mode, i.e., exams are conducted by the university at an interval of 6 months. For online courses, exams are conducted through an AI-proctored tool for an unbiased performance evaluation of students.
