IIT Bombay known as the Institute of Eminence allows brilliant students to complete their postgraduation engineering program by offering a platform to conduct research. The institute also provides an M.Tech (Master of Technology) program, a platform to connect with national and international peers to conduct their research work. The program offers various disciplines and the objective of the course is to develop the expertise of trainees so they can deal with problems that are complex and lead to the development of industries. 

To conduct the research and build expertise, students are given flexibility in coursework and thesis projects so they can easily complete their M.Tech program. For the convenience of the learners, IIT Bombay offers a full-time program and part-time program. The full-time program is a 2-year duration course where trainees are admitted under the categories that are associated with Teaching Assistantship, Teaching Assistantship through Projects, Fellowship Awards, and Sponsored.

On the other hand, the part-time M.Tech IIT Bombay program is a 3-year duration course where applicants can enroll for the course under categories such as Sponsored, Institute Research Assistantship (RA), Research Assistantship through Project, Project Staff, and Institute Staff. Project Staff and Institute Staff facilities are available for those who are employed at the institute only. However, the working hours of both the programs, full-time or part-time, are similar so sessions are arranged between 8.30 am to 8.30 pm.

Such candidates can apply for the M.Tech Flexible Timing for the Working Professionals. M.Tech Flexible Timing allows individuals to balance their higher education with their work commitments.
