However, the student can also pursue an online DBA(Doctor of Business Administration). This program is equivalent to a PhD, and it will take a minimum of three years to complete. This course is not available in India, but there are various top-ranked foreign universities that offer an online DBA, and to opt for this program, the student does not need to move to another country, as it can be done through an online medium. The online DBA is valid in India, so once the student finishes this program, they will get the Dr title in their name.

- To apply for the PhD Management program, candidates must have a Master's degree or equivalent in Management, allied areas, or Engineering/Technology, and it must be in first class/division or have secured at least 60% marks / CGPA 6.0 on a 10-point scale.
- Alternatively, candidates can have a Bachelor's degree in engineering and achieve the 60% marks or CGPA 6.0 required by the other institutions. Candidates with a Master's degree (Science/Arts/Commerce) and in first class/division or minimum 60% marks or CGPA 6.0 are also eligible. Lastly, candidates with professional qualifications such as CA/ICAI/ICMA/CS will be eligible if the Bachelor's degree reflects proper requirements, and have achieved 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 standard.
- A candidate must qualify with the requirements of the CAT, GMAT, UGC NET, CSIR NET, or GATE.
- All qualifications must be regular study programmes and from recognized universities; the AMIE or equivalent degrees will not be considered.
- Candidates applying under the result awaiting category will be permitted if proof of completion has been submitted in time, and they will be graduating in the appropriate time frame.
- Depending on the quality and number of candidates in each cycle, other criteria for shortlisting may also be used by the department.
