About Kamala Nehru Institute of Technology B.Tech Lateral Entry

Kamala Nehru Institute of Technology (KNIT), Sultanpur, offers a 3-year undergraduate engineering course (B.Tech Lateral Entry) to the students of 3-year diploma or BSc graduates who have a desire to pursue further technical education. This process enables qualified students to be admitted directly into the second year of the B.Tech program to save one year of study and receive a prestigious engineering degree at a government-funded institution. The KNIT Sultanpur was founded in 1979, and its academic prestige, good relationships in the industry, and dedication to imparting skilled engineers to suit the needs of the contemporary industry make it a renowned institution.

The students under the B.Tech Lateral Entry program enjoy a holistic program, both in terms of theory and practical training. The program is offered in three fundamental branches of engineering, which are Computer Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Both branches also study basic engineering courses such as mathematics, engineering mechanics, electrical systems and computer applications, in addition to special courses in the respective discipline. The curriculum undergoes periodic changes to suit the industry standards and new technologies, so the graduates should have the latest skills in such fields as automation, IoT, artificial intelligence, data analytics and sustainable use of engineering practices.

The KNIT faculty is made up of seasoned professors and industry gurus who introduce real-world knowledge into the classroom. Project-based learning and research facilities are also supported by adequate laboratories, modern workshops, extensive library facilities, and computer facilities available to the students. The institute promotes the involvement of students in technical competitions, hackathons, seminars, and industrial visits that expose them to the latest technology and industry practices. Moreover, KNIT has already developed partnerships with major companies and research institutions, which have helped to get internships and live projects that supplement the practical knowledge.

Being a government institute under Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, B.Tech Lateral Entry degree of KNIT is AICTE recognized and has an equal academic value as four-year degree in engineering. This awareness guarantees graduates to receive greater educational opportunities, including M.Tech, MBA, and research programs and government employment and roles in both government and non-governmental agencies. The institute has high placement rates, where the students have been placed in well-known frontline companies in the field of IT, manufacturing, infrastructure, and consulting.

Kamala Nehru Institute of Technology B.Tech Lateral Entry Examination Pattern

KNIT uses a semester system according to AKTU regulations for carrying out examinations. The academic year is separated into two semesters, semester lasting about 18-20 weeks of instruction. The testing model will consist of regular in-house testing and end term exams. The internal assessment is performed in a classroom, by way of tests, assignments, quizzes, seminar presentations, and laboratory work, and it typically occupies 20-30 percent of the total marks. End-of-semester examination is carried out by AKTU, and it is 70-80 percent of the total assessment. These tests are administered at special examination centres where they are invigilated strictly and on standard patterns of questions.  Laboratory courses undergo practical examinations, which are carried out by the internal and external examiners. Students must maintain a minimum level of attendance to be permitted to have semester examinations. The marking is graded as per the AKTU standards, in which the letter marks are awarded based on the performance. Those students who do not pass in the regular papers are given re-exam possibilities.
