Management Development Institute (MDI) is a management institute that was established in 1973. The university is known for its strong academic programs. The PGDM program offered by the university is one of its famous programs and is recognized for its quality education. MDI is owned by a non-profit organization, the MDI Society, registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. This institute was set up for consulting, training, and research activities.

The Institute, MDI, was spread over 37 acres (1,50,000 m2) in Gurgaon. According to Business Today, MDI has been listed in the 7th position. These days, Gurgaon's flagship program is PGDM offered by the Management Development Institute. This program is offered in both modes: online and offline. Furthermore, the institute is offering an executive PG program, Management Development Courses, and fellowship programs. The most popular program offered by the institute is PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma of Management). MDI has been set up in West Bengal as well, in the Murshidabad district. This campus was established in October 2010. These two institutes work independently; however, both the institutes are governed by the same Board of Governors.
