Who Can Apply?
In order to be eligible for the B.Tech Lateral Entry program in Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu:
- You need to have achieved 50% marks in a 3-year Diploma in engineering/technology (Post 10th) in a recognised institution by AICTE/UGC.
- You should possess a valid LEET (Lateral Entry Entrance Test) / MET ( MIET Entrance Test) score.
- You should have a Domicile certificate.

Although particular EMI isn’t offered but MIET recognises that students and their families have limited financial resources; therefore, it offers the flexibility to make fee payments. Quality engineering education is also more affordable since the institute usually admits some payments in instalments over the semester or the academic year. MIET B.Tech Lateral Entry Admission Process
MIET has a clear-cut admission process for all its programs. To be admitted, follow the following steps:
Step 1: Go to the official MIET website or admissions portal and register using basic contact details.
Step 2: Select the program of your choice and confirm its eligibility requirements, such as qualifying examination results.
Step 3: Fill the online application form using the correct personal, academic and contact details. Upload required documents.
Step 4: Show up in the corresponding entrance examination (JEE Main to B.Tech, or university/state-level exams) or apply in accordance with merit in the qualifying examination.
Step 5: Learn within the counselling schedule. Verification of the documents will be done, and seat allocation will be done according to merit and availability.
Step 6: Submit the admission formalities by making the payment of the fee using the possible payment methods, and receive your admission confirmation and joining instructions.

MIET B.Tech Lateral Entry Examination Pattern
MIET is based on a semester system as recommended by the University of Jammu, and the academic year is split into two semesters, with overall assessment taking place. The pattern of examination consists of Continuous Internal Assessment, which entails regular assessment in the form of assignments, quizzes, class tests, presentations, attendance of seminars, as well as project work, which is usually assessed at 20-30% of the entire mark. The theory exams, which are done at the end of the semesters, are conducted by the University of Jammu and have a weightage of 70-80%. In pertinent courses, practical/laboratory tests evaluate the capabilities of the student in experiments, knowledge of equipment, and utilization of theoretical material. Innovation, implementation, documentation, and presentation are project evaluation procedures for final-year students. All tests and grading conform to the University of Jammu guidelines, making it consistent and academic, and the examination time, pattern, and criteria of grading are communicated to the students at the start of every semester.

The B.Tech Lateral Entry program is a 3-year course where the students enter into the 3rd semester and finish their degree in 6 semesters rather than the normal 8 semesters.
MIET Jammu provides lateral entry in Computer Science Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering, provided their entry is subject to availability and the entrance requirement test.
The B.Tech is accredited by AICTE, and the MIET is an autonomous institute, therefore is eligible to get higher education (M.Tech, MBA, MS in foreign countries and in applications to government jobs and in the private sector both in India and abroad).
The program will involve structured internships in three stages, which are Summer Internship during the 4th semester of core engineering skills, Domain Specific Internship during the 6th semester of functional exposure, and Advanced Research/Industry Internship during the 8th semester according to career objectives.
