National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) was established in 1964 by the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, and students who want to pursue a PhD can take admission in this university. NIT Trichy is one of the renowned universities that provides Full-Time and Part-Time PhD in various fields. - For part-time scholars, the minimum duration is 36 months and their maximum permissible period of study is up to 7 years.
- Coursework is a compulsory requirement; students must pass four courses recommended by the Doctoral Committee, preferably in the first year subsequent to registration.
- Residential requirements for part-time candidates include at least an eight-week on-campus residency, which may be divided into segments. Full-time candidates must have at least one semester of campus residency.
- Comprehensive evaluation, progress reviews, and presentation of research work are all part of the advancement in the program. Candidates are required to present their progress regularly to the Doctoral Committee.
- The specializations offered are in diverse areas like Computer Applications, Management Studies, Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Architecture, and many more, with competitive allocations of seats per discipline.
- Candidates are expected to undertake original research, publish findings, and submit a thesis, together with a viva, final oral defense of the work, before being granted the PhD degree.
