PSG Institute of Management Part-Time PhD

• To pursue a Ph.D., candidates must have a Master's or professional degree equivalent to a Master's degree with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade from a recognized university. 
• Such candidates who have completed M.Phil coursework with 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade and have obtained an M.Phil degree may also apply to an integrated PhD program.
• As per government norms, candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/differently abled and other reserved categories are entitled to a relaxation of marks of 5% (to 50%) and are qualified in the above.
• Candidates must possess a valid score or have qualified in a national eligibility test such as the UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, or GATE or have qualified in the entrance examination of the institute.
• A research record or publication in a reputed journal is preferred, though not mandatory. This program is also available for working professionals who would like to continue to work and live, and conduct research for a doctorate; the mode is part-time.
• Candidates are selected based on their academic record, area of research interest, experience, and interview performance. 
• Final admission is given to candidates who are successful in all these selection processes and after their documents are verified by Anna University, Chennai, which regulates the academic program.

The PSG Institute of Management does not offer the EMI facility for individuals. However, they can pursue their education through education loans provided by various banks.  The institute also does not offer internal scholarships for the programs offered. The students can approach the institute for any financial assistance.

For the students enrolled in the online programs, the examination will be conducted online. The institute also provides LMS facilities to the students through which they can submit their assignments.  The examination pattern varies depending on the program the individual has chosen. 

Completing a Part-Time PhD opens-up various career possibilities in an academic, research, industry or consulting capacity. Graduates’ specific advanced content knowledge, coupled with flexible forms of learning, allows them to work in both historical and new roles within and outside of higher education.

Numerous scholars with a Part-Time PhD will take on academic roles such as professor, lecturer, and researcher. The specialized knowledge and experience afforded by Part-Time PhD holders similarly is valued by many institutions of higher education, and may lead to roles that could include Head of Department (HOD) or director of curriculum. There are also research roles outside of traditional teaching roles, such as research assistant, research scientist, data analyst, and other applied research roles, in universities, private firms, and government research organizations, for example, ISRO, DRDO, and CSIR. These roles often still require the incumbent to participate in research, publication, and curriculum development.
