Who Can Apply?

The students who want to apply for a PhD in Management at T. A. Pai Management Institute must know the eligibility criteria for that. The institute has set some of the criteria that are mentioned below for reference.

  • Candidates must hold a master's degree completed on full-time mode (minimum two years) with at least 60% aggregate or equivalent from a UGC recognized University or equivalent authority. Candidates with a 4-year bachelor's degree should have (minimum) 75% aggregate or equivalent and can apply only to the full-time PhD programme. 
  • A degree that is obtained from an international university will require a recognition/equivalency certificate issued by an appropriate agency/organization (for example: Association of Indian Universities, AIU). 
  • All degrees must have been obtained in full-time mode, and obviously not distance/part-time. 
  • Candidates must submit an online application (current admission requirements also include a 5–7 page research proposal, plus academic certificates, CV or resume, and work experience certificates.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be screened and offered a micro-presentation on their research proposal, and then a personal interview will be conducted, applying the application rubric for the selection process.

TAPMI PhD in Management Examination Pattern

T.A. Pai Management Institute has a rigorous and comprehensive examination and evaluation pattern aligned with the international standards in management education. The institute emphasises continuous assessment and holistic evaluation to ensure students are not only intellectually sound but also to develop critical thinking, problem solving and leadership styles. The institute has a trimester system with the academic year divided into three terms. The MBA programme lasts for two years and consists of six trimesters. For each subject, evaluation consists of both internal and external assessment using quizzes, mid-term and end-term examinations, project work, case analyses, class participation, and group assignment.

Another interesting facet of the institute's academic evaluation is the relative grading. Students are graded in comparison to each other and cannot tell if they have failed or passed until final pd grades and results are displayed.
