About University of North Bengal
The University of North Bengal is a public and research university situated at the foothills of the Himalayas, in the North Bengal region of the state. The establishment of the university was done by the Act of the Legislature of West Bengal in 1962. The university is known for its initiatives of providing education to socially and economically backwards students. One of the primary aims of the university is to offer higher education and research of superior standards. The university is UGC-approved and also accredited by NAAC with a B++ grade. It also scored an NIRF 51-100 rank band among state public universities.
The University of North Bengal has many academic departments, from arts and commerce to science and technology. Many courses are offered in these departments at the graduate, postgraduate levels, besides this, MPhil, diploma, and doctoral programs. There is also a Centre for Distance and Online Education, which provides degrees that are flexible and conducted online. This consists of seven postgraduate courses in English, Bengali, Nepali, Philosophy, Political Science, History, and Mathematics, and a UG program in B.Com.
Moreover, this centre is UGC-Distance Education Bureau-approved and offers seven courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The classes for these online-mode programs are facilitated online using ICT tools and web-based services, providing an alternative mode of education. Through this approach, many students who are otherwise denied education and obtain it flexibly. Moreover, the online courses are provided at a low cost, keeping in mind the students, and these degrees are advanced and job-oriented, which gives equivalent value to regular programs.
The students of the University of North Bengal also receive career support services. This means there are career advisors on board to assist students in gaining clarity, exploring career paths, and making a career plan, etc. Beyond that, skill development workshops on resume building, interview preparation are provided. Students also receive placement assistance from the university placement cell to find jobs in start-ups, multinational corporations, government organizations, and NGOs. The fees for most courses at the University of North Bengal are low. Besides that, the university does have some scholarships that are provided to students who are financially disadvantaged. Moreover, often merit-based awards are also given to qualified students. Applications are reviewed on an individual basis for this. So, it becomes easier for students to pay off their fees and focus on their education without much financial burden.
University of North Bengal Admission Process
These are the steps to apply to any course at NBU:
Step 1: Go to the official website of the university. You have to create an account on the application page.
Step 2: Begin filling out your application. You will be asked personal, contact, educational, and other details. Keep crucial documents like a passport-sized photograph, graduation certificates, marksheets, or other documents, based on your application
Step 3: Upload documents in the form and complete the application form till the very end.
Step 4: Towards the end of the form page will be the payment page. Your application will be considered complete only after this stage. Pay the fees, and your application form is completed.
Step 5: Now, wait for the decision from the admission committee regarding further steps. For some courses, there may be interviews and entrance exams. So, the result and final decision for those courses will take time.

University of North Bengal Examination Pattern
The examination pattern of the University of North Bengal is done through continuous evaluation. This includes internal assessments where students are evaluated through presentations, written assessments, reports, and mid-term tests. Besides, end-of-semester exams are also conducted to evaluate the students' knowledge for the entire semester through a written examination. For this purpose, students also need to have at least 75 percent attendance to be eligible to sit in the examination. There are also points given based on attendance, for instance, above 75 percent gets 2 marks, and above 90 will gets 5 marks.

At the University of North Bengal, students get placement assistance after the course is completed. The university invites around 50-60 companies every year for students from start-ups, multinational corporations, and the public sector, to government organizations, NGOs, etc. Besides that, placement drives are held, and students are given skill training related to job interview preparation, resume building, and more.
