The ERD Foundation-sponsored University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM), located in Guwahati, was established under the USTM Act (No. 6 of 2008) and is recognized by the UGC in Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956. USTM holds permissions from AICTE, NCTE, PCI, BCI, NCISM, and NMC to offer various programs, including B.Tech, MBA, B.Ed., Law, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, and Medicine courses.
The university is in a picturesque Assam-Meghalaya border at Guwahati and offers a serene learning environment with ease of access to major transport centers. The USTM Centre of Distance and Online Education (CDOE) has self-paced learning options available in terms of flexibility to suit working professionals and lifelong learners.
It offers affordable education to all individuals, particularly women and the poor, through quality study materials, online, and mentoring services. - The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya is the first state-owned, privately run university in the area of Science and Technology in Northeast India, which is a new mark of higher education in the area.
- The university was founded in 2011 and funded by the ERD Foundation, Guwahati, and in a short period of time, it has become one of the most reputable institutions in the Northeast.

The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) does not have its EMI or installment scheme for fee payment. Students must make a single lump sum payment of their fees at every semester. But in case you wish to pay in instalments, you can borrow an education loan from a nationalized bank such as SBI or Punjab National Bank. USTM assists students by providing them with the documents and details required for these loans. The best aspect is that you do not have to pledge or sell any property or guarantee in the case of loans up to [?]7.5 lakh. After the bank gives you a loan, you are able to pay it in monthly EMIs, which are easy to repay. Always keep in mind that fees should be submitted in time; failure to which you not being permitted to sit in your exams.
