The VEL’s Institute of Science Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS) is one of the most popular universities associated with the Veals Educational Trust, which was founded in 1992 by a son of a renowned doctor, Shri Ishari K. Ganesh, in remembrance of his father, Dr Ishari K. Ganesh, and Ishari Velan, a former minister in Tamil Nadu. The mission of the trust is to offer quality education that empowers people to be self-reliant, skilled, and socially accountable. VISTAS is recognised by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, and is involved in the knowledge, skills, and attitude development of the students with a passion towards national and societal growth.
VISTAS provides undergraduate and postgraduate degrees on a semester basis and a Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) model that offers personalised learning. Its courses are granted by AICTE and other government agencies like the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the Directorate General Shipping (DGS). Another area that the university is undertaking is international partnerships to expose the students to the global arena and equip them with the skills needed to work at the national and international levels.
