B.Tech For Diploma Holders
Candidates opt for the diploma in engineering after high school but they aren't offered appraisal and promotion due to adequate qualification. Thus AICTE has made this opportunity and approved B.Tech for Diploma Holders program for working professionals.
B Tech for diploma holders is a 3-year program as they have already completed their 3-year diploma in the same domain. It is basically a part-time/ flexible timing b.tech for diploma holders. The part-time b.tech for diploma holders is of 3-years in which you directly get admission in the 2nd year of the b.tech program. In part-time/flexible timing b.tech, one can take classes on the weekend or can even opt for evening classes. In this Part-time b.tech, a diploma holder has no need to leave the job and can upgrade their career with the program parallel.
B.Tech Distance Education for Diploma Holders (Approved)?
As per the judgment of the Supreme Court, B.Tech Distance Education is an invalid program. In its order, the Supreme Court specifically stated that B.Tech Distance Education is not legitimate and can not be approved by concerned regulatory bodies. Furthermore, it mentioned that technical education and practicals required students to attend the classes in person so they could understand the concepts better. It is difficult to impart technical education via distance mode.
However, there are diploma holders who are working professionals who have adequate working experience but lack the qualifications which makes the Supreme Court decision challenging. So, for their convenience, they are allowed B.Tech Flexible Timing programs where diploma holders can pursue their education at odd hours without leaving their jobs. Generally, classes are conducted during evenings, and on weekends. Programs that offer B.Tech at flexible time shifts are approved by the AICTE and UGC.
