The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) deadline for admission under the 2025 session has been re-extended from 15th February 2025 to 28th February 2025. The eligible students can fill in the registrations on the official IGNOU websites for enrolling in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) courses at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in and ignouiop.samarth.edu.in.
For the January 2025 session, the "Fresh Admissions" closing date of all ODL and online programs has been advanced from 15th February 2025 to 28th February 2025. Officially, IGNOU declared that they had extended admission for an application, and a non-refundable registration fee along with a program fee for the first year or first semester would be levied. If the student is applying for the first time, they must go to the Online Admission, choose the program option on the website, and study all the information on the requirements, fees, and course duration before choosing a program.
What is the Eligibility Criteria?
There are over 200 courses offered in IGNOU at various levels, such as diplomas and certificates, post-graduation, and graduation degrees. Depending on the program level, the qualification requirements for every program are unique. Therefore, students need to check on IGNOU's official webpage for the same. Some generic requirements for the eligibility of the programs are:
- Undergraduate Courses: The eligibility for the undergraduate program requires a 10+2 degree or an equivalent degree from any certified board.
- Diploma Courses: For diploma or certificate courses, students should have a 10+2 certification from a recognized board.
- Postgraduate Courses: A bachelor's degree from a recognized university is needed for the Postgraduate Course.
What are the Documents Required?
The documents required for the IGNOU registration process are given below. These documents should be in the given size:
- Passport-sized photograph – 100 KB
- Student's signature – 100 KB
- Scanned copy of educational certificates – 200 KB
- Caste Certificate (OBC/SC/ST) – 200 KB (if applicable)
- Work Experience Certificate – 200 KB (if applicable)
What are the steps for Enrolling?
The following procedures should be adopted by interested students who want to register for the IGNOU January 2025–26 session:
Step 1: Visit the IGNOU website
Step 2: On the home page, find and click the January Admissions 2025 link.
Step 3: You will be shown a new page with links to online and ODL programs.
Step 4: Choose the program, fill in the application, and upload all supporting files.
Step 5: Complete the application and pay the necessary fee.
Step 6: For future reference purposes, print out the application successfully submitted on an A-4 sheet of paper.
What are the Fees for Registration?
Before confirmation of admittance, the registration fee can be refunded, but not refunded. But 15% of the amount, a maximum of Rs. 2,000, would be deducted in case of a cancellation after confirmation of admission.
Refund policy: The registration fee alone will be refunded to students who opt to have a soft copy of the SLM. A refund of only the development charge will be made if the student has availed themselves of the fee exemption. Refunds are not allowed after 60 days of closure of admissions.
