As per UGC’s latest notice, Annamalai University was providing open & distance learning programs to students without any further UGC-DEB approval since 2015.
According to the UGC notice, Annamalai University was recognized to provide ODL or Open & Distance Learning program till the academic year 2014-15 and after that, the varsity did not have any further approval to provide ODL courses. Annamalai University has violated the guidelines and regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and has put the future of students in danger.
University Grants Commission has informed students and other stakeholders that the ODL degrees provided by Annamalai University after 2015 are invalid and the university is solely responsible for the career consequences of students if there will be any. This statement has been published by UGC.

UGC has declared that “No higher educational institutions shall offer any open and distance learning programmes and/or online programmes and admit learners thereto unless it has been granted recognition by the commission.”
