The UGC NET competitive examination is conducted to determine Indian students' eligibility for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD. The registration for the UGC NET December 2025 is from 07th October 2025 to 07th November 2025; the examination will be conducted fro 31st December 2025 to 07th January 2026.

If students' scores are below the cut-off marks, they need not worry about their doctoral degree. They can earn their doctorate online through an online DBA program. DBA stands for Doctorate in Business Administration, which is equivalent to a full-time PhD. A doctoral degree from DBA doesn’t require any marks from a competitive examination.

The criteria that determine the cut-off for 2025
The cut-off of UGC NET 2025 will be provided on their official website. The website usually provides the scorecard and cut-off marks category-wise and subject-wise.
Many factors determine the expected cut-offs:
- The cut-offs depend on the number of students appearing for the exam. The higher the number of students appearing for the exam, the higher the cut-off will be.
- If the question paper is harder than expected, only a few students will get the scoring marks, which will lower the cut-off.
- UGC NET uses the last year's cut-off marks as a benchmark for the future cut-offs.
The expected cutoff of UGC NET 2025 will be between 160- 216 for all subjects based on the benchmark of the previous year's examination.
