What is Distance M.Tech?

Distance M.Tech is a 2-year postgraduate degree in which the candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree in engineering can take the master’s degree with a particular specialization. However, a Distance M.Tech course is not valid in India. Government regulatory bodies UGC and AICTE have announced that distance M.Tech will not be valid.

However, this became a huge problem for those candidates who wanted to complete higher education but can not attend regular college. So, in place of the distance M.Tech course, UGC and AICTE allow universities to provide part-time M.Tech courses. A part time M.Tech course has been designed for people who can not attend classes daily like working professionals which is the course is often termed as M.Tech for Working Professionals course.

There are many job profiles in the engineering field such as civil engineer, computer engineer, mechanical engineer, etc. Numerous universities are there that offer part-time M Tech degrees to the aspirants. And the admission process is easy to proceed with. So today we will tell you the complete admission procedure of admission in the part-time Mtech program here in this blog.

What is Part-Time M.Tech Course?

A part-time M.Tech course is designed for working professionals as it is a work integrated learning program (WILP). The classes are held in evenings and on weekends and holidays so that it is easy for working professionals. For theoretical learning, there are online classes and for practical learning, there are offline classes. The online classes are also recorded and are made available on the Learning Management System (LMS) which the students can easily access at anytime.

All these classes are held either on weekends and holidays or during evenings so that working professionals can easily handle both their work and studies without any burden. Another big advantage is that the course is very affordable. The fee is a lot less than the fee of regular M.Tech courses. The total fee is within INR 1-3 lakhs.

A part-time M.Tech course has the same duration as a regular one, which is 2 years (4 semesters). Some universities provide some extra years for students to complete the course at their own pace. The curriculum of the course is also similar. The course is quite industry oriented as it teaches you much deeper insights of particular topics of your specialisation. With deeper knowledge of your specialisation, you are eligible for higher paying jobs and senior level positions in your field of engineering.

Given in this article below is a detailed description of the admission procedure and eligibility criteria required for a part-time B.Tech course along with a list of some of the best colleges in India for the same.

The Admission Process of Distance M.Tech

Mtech is a degree program that plays a major part in the labor market. Due to the fact that this is a specialized program leading to a master’s degree, several colleges offer the course. Entry to such technical courses is mostly determined by a few entrance tests administered by the higher education authority, but some institutions have their own admission requirements depending on their own entrance review, merit list, or other criteria.

GATE is the test for Mtech. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is the education authority’s largest examination; it is used to determine entry to technical master’s programs or master’s programs in engineering. Certain colleges admit students based on their merit list, which is the percentile of the total college qualifications.

Additionally, there are other online exams such as the IPU CET, the PGCET, the UPSEE, the TANCET, the BHU PET, the Karnataka PGCET, the CUCET, the BITS HD, the AJEE, the KIITEE, and the ITM NEST. However, these entrances exams are mandatory for admission to regular M.Tech courses and not part-time M.Tech courses.
