What Is Online M.Tech?

M.Tech is one of the most popular courses after B.Tech to become a professional engineer. But what if the student is not able to attend daily classes through traditional classroom education because of some circumstances? M.Tech online courses are designed to provide detailed knowledge of technology to these students so they can apply this knowledge in the real world to become professional engineers.

M.Tech or Master’s of Technology is a postgraduate course in engineering. The students pursue the M.Tech course after completing the Bachelor’s degree in technology for getting higher studies in technology. The duration of the course is 2 years which is subdivided into 4 semesters of 6 months each.

The course can be accomplished through the traditional classroom method and online method. Online M.Tech is for those students who want to become an engineer but not able to attend traditional classroom education due to some circumstances. They can opt for the online M.Tech course which will provide them the knowledge of technology and help them to become professional engineers without attending classroom education.

However, online M.Tech does not mean that the entire course is conducted. In fact, that is not true. The course is actually conducted in a hybrid mode with both online classes and offline classes. Mostly the theoretical classes are conducted online through a digital platform, commonly known as the Learning Management System (LMS). The classes conducted online are recorded and saved on this LMS so that the students can access them at anytime. All the study material of the course is also available on this LMS. This LMS, in fact, is like a virtual classroom. On the other hand, the practical learning happens through offline classes on the campus so that the students can access laboratories.

The course has been designed for working professionals, so the classes are conducted in the evenings and on weekends so that they can easily manage their jobs. The course is hence also known as a part-time M.Tech course.

The part-time M.Tech course includes many specializations for the students. Students can choose any specialization according to their interests. If any student wants to make a career in construction work then civil engineering is the best specialization for that student or if any student wants to build a career in designing, manufacturing, and managing machinery then mechanical engineering is the best.

So there are many more specializations formulated to fulfill the needs of every sector of the industry. The part-time M.Tech specializations are listed here:-

M.Tech in Mechanical Production Engineering M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering M.Tech in Computer Science
M.Tech in ECE Embedded System M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering M.Tech in Mechanical Design Engineering
M.Tech in Energy Engineering M.Tech in Power Electronics M.Tech in Cyber Security
M.Tech Information Technology M.Tech in Process Engineering M.Tech in Constructional Engineering
M.Tech in Structural Engineering M.Tech in Transportation Engineering M.Tech in Environmental Engineering
M.Tech in Civil Engineering M.Tech in Bioinformatics Engineering M.Tech in Biomedical Engineering
M.Tech in Biotechnology Engineering M.Tech in Agriculture Informatics M.Tech in Communication Engineering

Some colleges also provide M.Tech research programs during the M.Tech course. M.Tech research program includes the thesis work based on the research on any particular field related to engineering.

This research during M.Tech can be applied from university or any on-field work experience. The research during the online M.Tech course will also allow the student to get some work experience along with the studies that will help the students to get higher paid jobs after completing the M.Tech online course.

This course aims to prepare the students to solve tactical situations and on-field problems through high-level theoretical and practical knowledge. M.Tech online course is designed to give the student an innovation-based mindset to meet the needs of the industry and research organization.

Skills Required To Pursue M.Tech Online

The students who are keen to pursue the program M.Tech part-time are required to have few skills in them to give the best during the course and also to have great career opportunities. The skills like creative skills, innovative skills, communication skills, influencing skills, problem-solving skills, industry skills, pressure management skills, educational commitment, leadership, teamwork are some of the essential skills that the student must have to opt for any technology-based course whether it be BTech, M.Tech or any diploma courses related to engineering.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving Skills – For the Online M.Tech course, critical thinking skill is necessary as the course is based on technical studies and in technical courses deep thinking is required for new conceptions and inventions in the field of technical industries and research organizations.
  • Creativity Skills – One needs to have a creative mind for creating new inventions to make human life easier and also cover the needs of technical industries. All the technical industries require new technologies and creativity to innovate new equipment for effective results and to make a livelihood easier.
  • Teamwork – Teamwork is a very essential part of any field of education or work or every face of life. Through teamwork, anyone can make any work effective and easier. If anyone is involved in any kind of work by having more members for that work he or she can get more upgraded ideas for getting that work done more efficiently. During the Online M.Tech course and job after that, teamwork will also play an essential role in real life.
  • Leadership skills – In technical studies, leadership quality is one of the crucial parts of the growth of any firm, industry, organization, or team. The requirement of a leader is always needed to follow or to convey the right path and steps that should be taken or not. Leadership skills with management skills work as an asset for working in a technical field.
  • Communication Skills – Communication is a very important thing to convey the thoughts, ideas, or messages from one person to another person and it is not that easy to make someone understand what you want to convey. Not everyone has this skill to convey his or her idea to anyone efficiently. Communication skill is necessary to deliver your thoughts and ideas as a technician to another technician.

Eligibility Criteria

Different universities have different eligibility criteria for M.Tech part-time courses. To get admission into the M.Tech course the aspirant must have a BTech or BE degree from a recognized university and with at least 50% average marks. Some universities might also require compulsory work experience.

Some universities also conduct entrance exams for the M.Tech online admission or some will allow direct admission to the university. The most popular entrance exam for M.Tech is GATE.

After clearing the GATE exam the students can also apply for the regular M.Tech course in any specialization. MCA degree holders are also eligible to apply for computer designing related specializations of the engineering course.

Numerous colleges are providing M.Tech courses to the students. There are few that also offer part-time M.Tech course. Following is a list of some of the best and UGC/AICTE approved universities that offer the part-time M.Tech course.

M.Tech Online is Valid?

M.Tech online course in any specialization is not valid as it does not have the approval of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and University Grant Commission (UGC). The M.Tech course is all about theoretical and practical knowledge. As already mentioned at the start of the blog, instead of online M.Tech, the part-time M.Tech course is valid.

Theoretical knowledge can be learned through online classes but it is hard to attain practical knowledge through online education. The students can get technical knowledge only by face to face learning and theoretical knowledge is not sufficient to become a professional engineer.

So AICTE and UGC have discussed this problem and declared the online/ distance learning M.Tech courses as invalid courses. College Vidya does not promote any invalid courses.

We are writing this blog because the students search for this course on the internet at a high level. So we are guiding them to go for valid courses like the M.Tech working professional course to enhance their future.

In this blog, we gave detailed knowledge about the M.Tech part-time course which is declared valid by the UGC and AICTE. The students who are searching for the engineering course but not able to attend daily classes can pursue the M.Tech for working professional course for enhancing their career.
