About Bhilai Institute of Technology
Established in 1986, Bhilai Institute of Technology (BIT), Durg, is one of the pioneering and well-recognized engineering colleges in Chhattisgarh. It is situated on a 62-hectare campus. The institute is a private, self-financed college affiliated with Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University (CSVTU). Thus, the courses offered are valid and engineering programs are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), listed under UGC 2(f), accredited by NBA for multiple undergraduate programs. In addition to that, it has been awarded NAAC ‘A’ grade.
BIT Durg provides engineering courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and research levels. At the undergraduate level, B Tech courses are available in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Furthermore, the institute has introduced advanced courses like Data Science and Artificial Intelligence under Computer Science, including a separate degree, which are offered to meet the demand of the market.
In addition to the regular B.Tech, candidates are offered B.Tech Lateral Entry, designed for those learners who are interested in studying higher after a polytechnic diploma, and a B.Sc. degree holder interested in pursuing an engineering program can apply for the B.Tech via lateral entry.
BIT Durg emphasizes building strong fundamentals in subjects like Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Principles, along with specialized courses that depend on the branch. Besides the foundation knowledge, practical and project works are given equal preference, thus well-equipped labs, mini/major projects are included in the curriculum.

Bhilai Institute of Technology Admission Process
To register for the engineering program at BIT Durg, the centralized counseling is conducted by DTE (Directorate of Technical Education, Chhattisgarh).
Step 1: If the eligibility criteria are fulfilled, candidates can fill out the admission form.
Step 2: Candidates with the qualifying score in the entrance exam (depending on the program) can register for the counseling.
Step 3: They have to submit the documents and their preference for colleges and engineering branches.
Step 4: Based on that, seats are allotted to candidates. There are multiple rounds for seat allocation that depend on the availability of seats.
Step 5: Once a seat is allotted to a learner, it is necessary to pay the fees to complete the admission process.

Bhilai Institute of Technology Examination Pattern
BIT Durg follows a semester system. Each academic year is divided into semesters. There are end-semester examinations scheduled for each semester. Based on their score, students' performance is assessed. But it is not the only way to assess students. Within the semester, there are internal assessments/tests, including assignments. The list also includes project work and practical sessions, which are also important to evaluate the performance of learners.
